Macdonald soars at
BIS

Nathan Macdonald
had his maiden run in his brothers car last night at BIS. Nathan
drove very well, considering he hasn't spent any time in the car,
Nathan started from 7th in his first heat and was picking cars off
one by one and still trying to get used to the car, Nathan found
himself going better than he thought he would, ending up in second
place by the time the chequered flag came out. Nathan was extremely
happy with how the car handles and with his first run.
Starting out of 5th in heat 2, Nathan was trying to make a pass on
the outside of Steve Collins but found out very quickly that if you
stay up there for too long someone will sneak up and pass underneath
you, as is the case with modified productions as the racing is close
and fast. Macdonald fell back to 8th place and managed to get back
past Lance Eade and Steven Zahl. Nathan made a move on the inside
of Collins on the last corner and was able to get beside him but
Collins had enough legs to get across the line for 5th ahead of
Macdonald in 6th.
Nathan
qualified out of position 12 with fellow Toowoomba competitor Dennis
Bullpitt beside him in 11th. The feature saw Hockley off pole with
price beside him, then followed by Matty Swarbrooke, Greg Worling,
Mark Ferguson, Steve Downes, Steven Zahl, David Jacobi, Gary
Maroske, Quinten Clarke, Dennis Bullpitt, Macdonald, Steve Collins,
Troy Richards, Lance Eade, Darren Pearson and -------. Price and
Hockley were side by side for the first lap until Pricey got the
lead. Nathan again started picking cars off one by one until Hockley
lost his right hand wheel which bought on a restart. At the restart
Macdonald found himself up to 7th position, Macdonald got past
Jacobi after the restart only to have the yellows come on again as
Price and Ferguson came together which put both of them out.
Macdonald got put back behind Jacobi on the restart as he had not
completed a full lap, on the restart Macdonald was in 5th and found
himself battling with Jacobi. Macdonald got up the inside of Jacobi
up the front straight, and at the same time Jacobi lost his right
rear wheel which saw him bounce into Nathan's right front, then
tagging him in the right rear almost spinning Nathan right around.
Another restart saw Nathan start in 4th place, with Greg Worling
leading, followed by Matt Swarbrooke and Steven Zahl. Nathan was in
fourth at the restart but felt something was wrong with the car
after the contact with Jacobi as the car would not turn into the
first corner as it normally would. Nathan eventually pulling in to
the infield. Nathan happy with the performance of the car and
himself, mixing it with some of the "Big Boys" but also disappointed
at the same time.
