QLD Title top 5 finish for Shane
& Nathan
Tuesday May 3, 2011
A two night show
over the 30th April/1st May long weekend was held for the 2011
QLD Modified Production Title, with siblings Nathan and Shane
Macdonald finishing 4th and 5th respectively in the 40 lap
feature race. Todd Doyle was victorious from Victorian
Mark Carlin and Rodney Pammenter.
Nathan had qualified
from 14th position on the grid while Shane put in a stellar
performance in his last two qualifying heats to jump from 16th
to 5th in points.
As the 2011 title
got underway, Nathan had a near miss as Dennis Shallcrosse
retired on the first lap with Nathan lucky to miss being hit by
any cars. On the restart Macdonald raced against Trevor
Mills and Glenn Pagel for several laps before moving by and
ensuing a enthralling battle between Rodney Pammenter, Greg
Worling and Shane Macdonald. All four cars battled
fiercely for 3rd place, with Shane snaring 3rd momentarily as
Pammenter fought back. Shane and Nathan continued their
efforts to make the high line work, and it was Nathan's turn as
he made his way into 3rd. Rodney Pammenter wasn't giving
in easy as the pair raced side by side for several laps until
Pammenter moved by with Nathan in 4th and Shane 5th as the
chequered flag waved.
Another QLD Title
and another positive result for Nathan and Shane, where last
year they finished 2nd and 3rd respectively at Gympie.
Shane and Nathan
would like to make a special thanks to Peter Lack from GW Racing
for his support over the last few weeks in helping our team move
forward with a more competitive package, and also to everyone
who dropped by for a chat after the race and grabbed a heap of
posters and stickers.
The racing season is
drawing to a close, with a few exciting races still to come.
Shane and Nathan will be competing in the Modified Production
30/30 race at Gympie Speedway on May 28th, and will be
campaigning Nathan's VZ Commodore after finishing 3rd in last
years race in Shanes car. Then Nathan will be heading to
Blackwater Speedway for a CQ Title in which Shane finished 2nd
last year driving Nathan's car.
In other news, Shane
is selling his VS Commodore and is looking to upgrade to a later
model commodore for next season, stay tuned.
