Yet
another season is done and dusted for Nathan Macdonald,
with Macdonald having had a successful season of racing
in 2005/2006. Nathan won the Charlton Raceway seasonal
point score for the second year in a row, and finished
3rd in the East Coast A Grade point score. Early on in
the season Nathan won the Sunshine Coast Championship
which was held at Yandina Speedway.
Macdonald
ran away with 11 feature race wins and 23 heat race wins
during the course of his 2005/2006 racing schedule.
The
season also encountered many twists and turns, including
the annual trip to Mackay, which saw the event being
rained out. After leaving on the Saturday from Mackay,
the team made it just in time to race at Yandina
Speedway on the Sunshine Coast which Macdonald then went
onto win the feature for the night.
One of
Nathan's "all time lows" occurred at Charlton Raceway
when he was leading the feature race and slowed down
after what he thought he saw as being the chequered
flag, but was actually the white flag!
Nathan
believed he was also robbed of the Club Championship
title at Charlton Raceway, while he was leading the main
event he encountered a lapped car and accidentally spun
the car, and was put to the rear of field.
One of
the highlights for the season would have to be the
Endurance race win with Brother Shane Macdonald at
Brisbane International Speedway. The two drivers
combined their skill to drive 25 laps each, and won the
event convincingly over the rest of the field.
The
future for Nathan Macdonald is uncertain at the moment,
after news that 2006/2007 season will be the last for
Sprint Sedans at Charlton Raceway. The news of this was
deeply dis-heartening after Nathan, Shane and Father
Lindsay Macdonald had raced in the class spanning over
20 years, and the support everyone had given the
speedway club, including other drivers, seems to have
been forgotten, as they are trying to sweep them under
the carpet so to speak.
But we
can't change the past and must look to the future.
Nathan will be running Sprint Sedans for one more season
at least, and after that Macdonald will have to sit down
and decide his next move. Modified Production is
definitely on the table at the moment, and is most
likely our next move. When, where and what car
Macdonald will run is still not known, but after this
new season time will tell!
At the
moment we have the motor out of the car, give it a quick
freshen up, and we will be ready to pick up where we
left off at Kingaroy Speedway on the 9th September 2006
for the East Coast A Grade QLD Title.

checking back for more info!
