Nathan
Macdonald made the journey back to Brisbane International
Speedway to race with East Coast A Grade after some time away
from the venue.
Heat 1 saw Macdonald start out of
position 3. Nathan moved into second place until Paul
Ledgerwood made a move past Macdonald after developing a push
through the turn. Martin Cross finished in first place,
followed by Paul Ledgerwood and Nathan Macdonald.
Macdonald started from the rear in
heat 2. As the field rolled around to get the green flag, there
was confusion as some cars took off and others didn't, Macdonald
ran up the back of Paul Ledgerwood which left a sour note in
Macdonald's car as a spark plug lead had come off the engine
from the impact. Nathan rolled around finishing last as it left
the car seriously underpowered. Martin Cross won the heat with
Terry Medcalf finishing 2nd and Pete Rogers 3rd.
Nathan started from 3rd in heat 2, and after a collision between
Chris Duffel and Shane Hollyman, a restart was brought on and
Nathan started from pole this time round. Nathan cleared out
taking the heat win with Peter Rogers coming in for 2nd and
Terry Medcalf 3rd.
Macdonald drew for 2nd place for the
feature between Terry Medcalf and Paul Ledgerwood. After
drawing out of a hat Medcalf was to start out of position 2,
with Martin Cross on pole, Nathan Macdonald out of 3 and Paul
Ledgerwood 4.
Medcalf powered
his Ford Falcon into the lead around the first corner after
slight contact with Martin Cross. This saw Medcalf's left
front tyre deflate. This didn't seem to bother the former
Aust. champ as he drove a faultless race to lead from start
to finish. Nathan Macdonald was looking to chase down
Medcalf but while running 2nd Macdonald broke an axle a few
laps in to the race, which ended his chances for the night.
Paul Ledgerwood flew the 6 cylinder flag as he brought his
car home in 2nd place, while Shane Hollyman was happy to
finish 3rd after a costly night. Peter Rogers finished in
4th followed by Martin Cross and Nathan Macdonald.
