Macdonald had one of his best ever seasons of racing over
2006/2007. Only three events were cancelled due to rain, with
one of those being Mackay which Nathan had travelled to but had
to turn around and come home.
Nathan came away with 9 feature race
wins, 4 second placing's, 1 sixth place and 2 DNF's for the
season.
Macdonald got off to a great start
to the season, winning the QLD Title at Kingaroy, which was
re-run from the season before. Some axle failures early on at
Brisbane International Speedway saw Nathan have a few DNF's, but
the problem was rectified later on. A trip to tropical north
QLD in Mackay for the North QLD Outlaw Title saw Nathan claim
victory in the 40 lap final, which was a great result for the
team for the amount of traveling that was done.
Another win at Kingaroy saw Nathan
take out the QLD Title for the third time in his career.
Nathan won 4 out of 5 features at
his home track, Charlton Raceway. The final ever meeting for
Sprint Sedans at Charlton was held in April, Nathan was going
well through the night, until a broken axle on the left hand
side broke which hurt his chances of a good starting position
for the final. The car was repaired and Nathan got back out
there, having to start from the rear. Macdonald fought his way
to the front, and wrestled the lead from Darran Lester to claim
the win as the flag flew for the last time.
The week after saw Nathan make the
trip back to Mackay, for the Australian Outlaw Sedan Title. The
50 lap feature was going to put a lot of cars to the test, with
a prize purse of $2000 to the winner. The feature race saw a
tremendous battle between Jason Boss and Macdonald, dicing in
and out of lapped cars. Boss managed to cross the line first
just ahead of Macdonald in 2nd.
Another trip to the tight circuit of
Kingaroy saw Nathan Macdonald given the opportunity to forfeit
his points after qualifying on pole for the feature, and start
at the rear of the field by the track promoter, and if he come
through to take the win, would pocket an extra $100. Macdonald
took up the challenge and managed to pull it off, making his way
into the lead on the final lap, in what was a race that had the
very appreciative crowd all on their feet.
To finish the season off Macdonald
claimed his first win for the season at Brisbane Speedway, and
this being the Australian Title for East Coast A Grade.
Macdonald was overwhelmed with the win, as he had never won the
title before and was one he had been chasing all his career.
Nathan also ran consistent the whole season to win the Charlton
Raceway seasonal point score as well as the East Coast A Grade
point score.
Nathan is reluctantly selling his car, and
will be building a commodore for the Modified Production
category. Nathan is unsure on when it will be done, but any
news will be posted on
