Nathan
Macdonald continued his dream start to the season after
winning all three races at Charlton Raceway on Saturday
night. After rainfall throughout the week, it was still not
enough to dampen the clay track surface. Dust was flying
off the track after the first race. For heat 1 Peter
Campbell was to start from pole, with Nathan Macdonald out
of position 2, Shane Hollyman out of 3 and Norm Townsend 4.
The improved sedans were also joined
with Sprint Sedans due to low numbers. Macdonald managed to
find better drive on the outside jumping into the lead, only
to have a total restart after Shane Hollyman and Peter
Campbell come together up the straight, which saw Campbell
spin out and Hollyman being sent to rear of field.
Macdonald jumped into the lead once again, with Campbell
sticking on his tail all race. Macdonald took the heat 1
win Peter Campbell 2nd and Peter Gray 3rd.

Nathan Macdonald found his #32 car out
of pole position for the second heat, with Hollyman on the
outside, Peter Campbell out of 3 and Norm Townsend 4. The
water truck had wet the track before the race which made the
surface extremely greasy. Hollyman found drive off the
start, taking the lead and going wide, while Macdonald stuck
down low and darted back into the lead. Peter Gray come
through the field to give Macdonald a hurry up. The Mac1
Designs commodore running right up near the wall to try and
find some traction. Hollyman dropped back through the
field, while Macdonald took out the heat 2 win.

The feature race starting positions
was not decided by points but rather drawn out of a hat.
Shane Hollyman started from position 1, followed by Peter
Campbell, Norm Townsend and Nathan Macdonald. The water
truck was once again out on the track, giving it a sprinkle
before the race. As the green lights come on, Shane
Hollyman found the lead around the turn 1, while Macdonald
went high around the outside of Peter Campbell. Darren
Ciesolka made a good start, moving into 2nd place down on
the inside, with Macdonald 3rd. Out in front Shane Hollyman
threw it all away by spinning out on lap 2, misjudging the
greasy Charlton surface, handing the lead to Ciesolka.
Macdonald had a good run up the back
straight to pass Ciesolka, only to be put back to 2nd place
after there was a stoppage after another car spun. After
the restart, Macdonald found a good line around turn 1 and
2, getting another good run on Ciesolka on the inside and
making the pass into the lead. Macdonald encountered lapped
traffic during the race but wasn't enough to slow him down.
With one lap to go Darrel Graham lost a wheel after hitting
the wall, causing a stoppage, the race then being declared.
Macdonald ecstatic with the win, after a horror first two
seasons at the Charlton track, Macdonald now feels
comfortable circling the home track in the new car.
