Another Saturday
night race meeting at Charlton Raceway, saw the track turn out
to be very rough once again. This weekend seeing Shane Hollyman
and Darren Lester competing from Brisbane. In Heat 1, Nathan
found himself on Pole, with Shane Macdonald back in 8th. Nathan
Macdonald in car #32, was able to jump to the lead, but was
being chased by Dennis Bullpitt in car #10. Macdonald tried his
best to hold onto 1st, but Bullpitt had a good run up the inside
and took the lead around turn 1 and 2. Macdonald had to settle
for 2nd while Shane Macdonald finished back in 7th.
1st Dennis Bullpitt
2nd Nathan Macdonald 3rd Shane Langton.
Heat 2 saw Shane in
car #27 out of position 4, while Nathan started behind his
brother in 6th. With the track being wet by the water truck
before the race, this made way for a very slippery track. With
Rodney Pammenter starting out 7, fresh from his Australian
Outlaw Championship win in Mackay, Rocket managed to stick the
#8 car on the low line and by the second lap was leading the
race with Shane Macdonald right behind him. While back in the
pack, Nathan was chasing Darren Lester, when running 4th,
Macdonald got crossed up and collected the wall, with a huge
shower of sparks. Fortunately there was no damage and he
retained his 4th spot. Back up the front, Shane was able to
take the high line around the outside of Rocket with 1 lap to
go, and took the heat 2 win. 1st Shane Macdonald 2nd Rodney
Pammenter 3rd Darren Lester.
Unlike Brisbane
Speedway, for all three races, the grid had already been drawn
including the feature race, which saw Rodney Pammenter on pole,
with Shane Langton beside him, Shane Macdonald out of 3, and
Nathan Macdonald back in 9th. Langton in car #72, was able to
take the lead in the first lap, while Shane Macdonald and Rodney
Pammenter were fighting for 2nd position, changing places
numerous times. Nathan managed to crawl up to 6th place on a
track with very big ruts. While others had trouble handling the
rough track, Shane Langton found the perfect line and stretched
out to a comfortable lead, to cross the line in 1st position,
with Shane Macdonald 2nd and Rodney Pammenter 3rd. By following
Dennis Bullpitt, Nathan was just able to go around the outside
of Shane Hollyman in the final corner to take 5th position
behind Bullpitt who was 4th. 1st Shane Langton 2nd Shane
Macdonald 3rd Rodney Pammenter.
