After a very wet
weekend, Speedway was a sure bet that it would be cancelled, but
come Saturday afternoon, the skies were blue. The scheduled
meeting at Brisbane Speedway went ahead. Shane wasn't racing as
his car wasn't quite ready, but is very near completion. Nathan
was in attendance, and ready to make the most of it as his
brother was out of action. In the first heat on a greasy track,
Nathan started on position 2 with Bill Tronc on the inside.
Bill was able to take the lead into the first corner, while
Nathan didn't have the pace and dropped back to 4th. A stoppage
saw Chris Duffel hit the fence, which put him on the infield. A
few laps later, the yellow flag were out again, which saw Shane
Hollyman stop just before hitting the wall, with the race then
being declared. Heat 1 saw 1st Dale Grother 2nd Bill Tronc
3rd Nathan Macdonald.
Heat 2 had Nathan
starting in fourth position. Still on a greasy track, Nathan
was unable to keep up with leaders, but ended up finishing 3rd
again, after Dale Grother blew an engine. Heat 2- 1st Tony
Blacker 2nd Shane Hollyman 3rd Nathan Macdonald. For the
feature Tony Blacker was highest point scorer which saw him on
pole, with Nathan beside him. After plenty of races the track
was showing plenty of stick. On the start Nathan was able to
take the lead into the first corner and was never troubled all
race. The car was proving to be in top order ready for Mackay
in a week's time. Tony Blacker was running second until
drifting wide, allowing Shane Hollyman past and into second.
That's how they finished 1st Nathan Macdonald 2nd Shane
Hollyman 3rd Tony Blacker.
The next race
meeting will be over 2 nights (24th & 25th January) Nathan,
Shane, Rodney Pammenter, Shane Langton, Peter Rodgers and Darren
Lester will head to Mackay to race for $1000.
