The
running of the Australian Super Sedan Title was plagued with
rain on Friday night, no races had been run when the rain
come down and the night being washed out. The 2-night
meeting was to be crammed into Saturday night. Dark clouds
loomed out in the horizon but the rain held off for the
event to be run.
The track seemed fairly good for the
first race, until it was watered down before our first
race. The water lay on the track making it extremely
slippery, with several cars spinning out before the race
started, including Nathan Macdonald! Macdonald started out
of position 3, getting a good start and up the inside up the
straight into first place ahead of Norm Townsend. The
yellows lights come on as Townsend had looped his
commodore. This brought a single row restart. Macdonald
got going again, but as soon as the lights had come on the
yellows were on again, Nathan Macdonald was put to the rear
of field, not knowing what he had done wrong. Peter
Campbell was leading the race comfortably when he got off
line and spun in the wet. This left Peter Rodgers out in
front. Rodgers won the heat with Macdonald moving into
2nd. Nathan later discovered he was put to the rear of
field as officials say on the restart he started racing
halfway around turn 3 and 4, which from video reference,
Macdonald clearly started once he was on the front
straight. Macdonald was disgusted with the decision but had
to cop that one on the chin.

Super Sedan heats the track was already blowing dust and
going slick. Peter Rodgers in his #44 Cortina wasn't far
behind in 2nd place and Peter Campbell 3rd.

first corner, with Rodgers taking chase after Macdonald.
Rodgers kept with Macdonald but didn't quite have enough to
get around him. Peter Campbell come in for 3rd and Norm
